units of the 2.70 x 10^7?
Is that for a mole of Na atoms or something different.
Using your answer from Part A, calculate the volume of a mole of Na atoms (in cm3/mol ). Assume that the entire volume is occupied by Na atoms leaving no gaps or holes between adjacent atoms.
(Answer A is V= 2.70*10^7)

pm3
If the volume of one Na atom is 2.70 x 10^7 pm (I guess that's pm^3), I would change that to cc and multiply by 6.02 x 10^23 for a mole of them. I think 1 pm^3= 10^-30 cc but check me out on that.
yes 1pm^3= 10^-30
thank you very much i got the answer :)
thank you very much i got the answer :)
just wondering why the value calculated in Part B is significantly smaller than the literary values?
because the value for the molar volume of Na is about 23 cm^3/mol and the value i got is 16.3 cm^3/mol.
I looked up the molar volume and it is listed as about 24.

yeah i was wondering is it because The molar volume calculated does not take into account that the electron clouds of neighboring sodium atoms repel each other.
or
The metallic radius used in the calculation was based on a small overlap between the electron orbitals of neighboring atoms.
The metallic radius for sodium does not take into account that sodium commonly loses one electron and exists as .

or it The molar volume calculated does not take into account that the shape of the sodium atoms affects packing space between atoms.

The metallic radius reported is not very accurate since electron clouds are mostly empty space and have no specific volume.

thanks i got it
ah this must be a mastering chemistry problem
16.3 cm^3/mol
that volume is slightly larger than an iPod Shuffle

Hello ju r buffelo
wait whats the answer to this?!?!?
16.3 cm^3/mol
lmao u a real one @college student. Wondering if you go to the same college as me since today is the due date for this chapter haha
