Use the elimination method to solve these pairs of simultaneous equation

6x - 5y = -7
3x + 4y= 16

2 answers

well, there are lots of choices but let's multiply the second one by 2 to get 6 x in each
6x - 5y = -7
6x + 8y= 32
---------------------- now subtract
0 - 13 y = -39
y = 39/13 = 3
now go back and use either for x
3x + 4y= 16
3 x + 4(3) = 16
3 x = 4
x = 4/3
==========================
now check by using in first one
6x - 5y = -7
6 (4/3) -5 (3) = -7????
8 -15 = - 7 ????
Yes, we won !!!
