You have to assume Bob is one of the three boys, to get an answer. They do not say that he is, however.

Jim is not the catcher, because "and" is used in the next to last sentence.

Since Sam is not catcher either, Bob must be the catcher.

Where the the outfielder lives is not useful information; it is irrelvant. Children who go to the same school are not necessarily neighbors. Nor do children who are neighbors necessarily go to the same school

Sam must be the outfielder. Jim must be the pitcher.

Sam an't be the outfielder because he lives next to the outfielder. Same is the Pitcher. Jim is the outfielder but drwls pointed yo into Bob's position correctly.
