This is definitely not homework. I just want to know what would be the best book for preparing my self for the SAT.

You have not mentioned the specific area. Tell us what area this is: Math, Science, English, Foreign Language, etc. and I have sites for AP, IP, Sat (PSAT), ACT, etc.

In my experience, if you go to Barnes Noble,or a college bookstore, the SAT prep manuals they have are good, and work. You do have to commit to going through them, and doing the exercises. Use flashcards to memorize the vocab words (all 700 of them), make certain the math areas flow easily for you. Work on those areas in math that it doesn't flow.
Now on the readings, learn to highlight as you read. If you don't know how (some students paint the entire page), there are online resources to help you get very good at active reading. Here is the best (written by a colleague of mine):
