How to Make Guacamole
Ingredients:
- 2 ripe avocados
- 1 lime
- 1 small red onion
- 1 small tomato
- 1 small jalapeno pepper (optional)
- Fresh cilantro leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions:
1. Prepare the avocados:
- Cut the avocados in half lengthwise and remove the pit.
- Scoop the flesh out of the avocado peels and place it in a mixing bowl.
- Use a fork to mash the avocado to your desired consistency. Some prefer it chunky while others prefer it smooth.
2. Juice the lime:
- Cut the lime in half and squeeze the juice over the mashed avocados.
- Mix the lime juice well with the mashed avocados to prevent browning.
3. Chop the vegetables:
- Finely chop the red onion, tomato, and jalapeno pepper (optional).
- Roughly chop a handful of fresh cilantro leaves.
4. Combine all ingredients:
- Add the chopped red onion, tomato, jalapeno pepper (if desired), and cilantro to the mashed avocado mixture.
- Gently fold all ingredients together until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste.
5. Serve and enjoy:
- Transfer the guacamole to a serving dish.
- Serve immediately with tortilla chips or as a topping for tacos, burritos, or sandwiches.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
Note: Guacamole is best made and consumed immediately as avocados tend to brown over time. If storing, cover the guacamole with plastic wrap, ensuring it touches the surface to prevent air exposure.
