You can't get a trig problem more basic and fundamental than that,
somebody really has to learn those basics ....

let the height of the tree be h
in your right-angled triangle, in terms of the 30° angle
h is the opposite, and 20 is the adjacent
tan 30° = opposite / adjacent = h/20
h = 20tan30°
