The relative electric charge of a proton is +1, the relative electric charge of an electron is -1 and that of neutron is 0.
What is electric charge and why is it relative?
Thank a lot.

The proton was established as the basic unit of charge. It was arbritary. Electric charge is a property of matter that either attracts or repels other charges.
