That's a strange sentence. A "modicum" of respect doesn't fit this situation.
I doubt if b is the best answer.
The mom left the room with a modicum of respect after her baby began ____.
a) sleeping
b) screaming
c) talked
d) singing
B???

I thought the same thing when I read the sentence. I did look up the definition of "modicum" and that that screaming would be the best fit. What do you think?
Modicum: a small, moderate, or token amount.
Example: The drug is so dangerous that it could kill a person with just a modicum.
I'm really stuck on this one. Not sure if I'm over thinking it or what the issue is but your help is very appreciated!

Then again, I think that A could be the answer too.
Now, ask yourself - do you believe a mother would leave a room where a baby is screaming? A mother would want to know why and make the baby comfortable!
Sra
Sra
I believe A. is the correct answer for the fact that 1. the mother wouldn't leave the baby as Sra said and 2. why leaving with respect when the baby is screaming..? i doesn't make sence to me, so i would say A. is correct.
