Technology helped the Assyrian Empire defend them selfs from being attacked. They used ironworking technology to dress the soldiers in stiff leather and metal armor. Before attacking, the Assyrians dug beneath the city’s walls to weaken them. Assyrians thought they were very powerful they showed no mercy. They killed or enslaved their victims. If a conquered people refused to pay, the Assyrians destroyed their cities and sent the people into exile. Ashurbanipal proved to be one of the last of the mighty Assyrian kings. Assyrian
power had spread itself too thin. Also, the cruelty displayed by the Assyrians had
earned them many enemies.
