Task objective
• Learners will use information clearly stated in the oral recording, own intuition, product and sector
knowledge and personal experience to clarify a query.
• Learners will use own intuition, knowledge of the sector or personal experience to infer the main idea
not clearly stated in the text
• Learners will use own knowledge and experience to infer action or incident that might have taken place
between two clearly stated actions or incidents in the texts
• Learners will use own knowledge and experience to infer possible outcome or consequence in the text.
• Learners will infer similarities and differences by comparing times, places, events and other occupation
related aspects using information clearly stated in the oral text.

Instructions to the facilitator
a. You should bring a recording of oral text to the class.
b. Choose the recording that is relevant to this unit standard.
c. Tell learners what the recording is all about before the beginning of the lesson.
d. Allow each learner to listen to the recording.

After completing the tasks, facilitate a discussion with the learners to share their inferences and interpretations of the oral text. Encourage them to explain their reasoning and how they arrived at their conclusions. Provide feedback and guidance as needed to further develop their skills in inferring information from oral texts.
