For which values of p are f (p) = p + q2 + q zero places?

not sure what "zero places" are
do you mean where f(p)=0 ?
clearly, p = -(q^2+q) makes f(p) = 0

I think I figured it out though. It means where the function's graph intersects the x-axis. (What would be the correct term for this in English?)
