solve for x 2(x-5)^2=3

1 answer

I guess this means
(x-5)^2 = 3/2 ?
If so then
x^2 -10 x + 25 = 3/2
2x^2 - 20x + 50 = 3
2 x^2 -20 x + 47 = 0
x = [20 +/- sqrt(400 - 376) ] / 4
= [20 +/- sqrt (24) ]/4
= 5 +/- (1/2) sqrt(6)
