So, this isn't a homework assignment, but I really would like to know about US containment policy. Can someone tell me without sending me to links to research, please? I don't want to sound lazy, but because it isn't a homework assignment, I really don't want to read a long article. I would like someone to actually summarize it please. :) No more than 1 paragraph, because I have a lot of other homework to do, actually. Thank you for your help!! :)

The containment policy was adopted by the U.S. during the Cold War in an attempt to keep the Soviet Union and China from spreading communism to other countries.
That's a rather "tall order" considering that Jiskha IS a Homework Help site! We also are busy helping as many as we can.

Briefly, The Containment Policy was and is a military, economic and diplomatic strategy originally to stall the expansion of communism. It was a component of the Cold War and was in response to a series of moves of the Soviet Union to expand the influence of communism in Eastern Europe, China, Korea and Vietnam. This is mostly associated with U.S. President Harry Truman (1945-1953), including the esablishment of NATO and nuclear deterrence, bringing about he end of the Cold War in 1989 and the break up of the Soviet Union in 1991.
