siplify the expression 1/4(6b +2) - 2/3(3b-2)

2 answers

1/4(6b+2) -2/3(3b-2)
3/2b +1/2 -2b +4/3
1/2+4/3 +(3/2-2)b
(3+ (4*2))/6 -1/2b
11/6 - 1/2b
how about some "trickery"

1/4(6b +2) - 2/3(3b-2)
= (1/12) [3(6b+2) - 8(3b-2) ]
= (1/12)[18b + 6 - 24b + 16]
= (1/12)[-6b + 22]
= (-1/2)b + 11/6

just like vinay's answer but with less fractions to worry about
