Divide and siplify

w^8/W^5

would it be 1/w^13 I add the 8and the 5 right???/

1 answer

Since you are dividing, you subtract exponents.

w^8 = w*w*w*w*w*w*w*w
w^5 = w*w*w*w*w

Write that as a fraction, and 5 of the w's cancel, leaving w^(8-5) = w^3

If that seems weird, just try it with mnubers

2^8 = 256
2^5 = 32

256/32 = 8 = 2^3
