Simplifing rational expressions

Simplify the expression & state any excluded values:
(2s^2 - 5s - 12) / (2s^2 - 9s + 4)

2 answers

2s^2-9s+4 = (2s-1)(s-4)
so the denominator is zero when x = 1/2 or 4

2s^2-5s-12 = (2s+3)(s-4)

so, I guess it's clear now what the simplified quotient is, eh?
I should know, eh? Thanks, Steve
