From Bed Bound to Breaking Boards [Part 2 - EDITING]

(1) “I’m really very sorry, but I don’t think Kameelah will ever be able to walk again,” the doctor informed her parents. (2) However, Kameelah and her father were unhappy with her grim prediction and refused to accepting she would never walk again. (3) Her father, a registered nurse, insisted that the doctor put her in physical therapy and try to rehabilitate her. (4) But the doctor wouldn’t agree to this arrangement. (5) He said that it were a lost cause. (6) He was positive that Kameelah could never walk again.
(7) “I was really scared. I just remember telling Dad, ‘I have to walk. I have to walk, Dad.’ (8) And he promised me, he swore to me, that I would walk again. (9) He said, just what I needed to hear.”
(10) Her father kept his promise. (11) He brought Kameelah home in a wheelchair, and worked with her. (12) They doing exercises that would have been ridiculously easy for any other person, but they were excruciatingly difficult for Kameelah. (13) Miraculously after a year Kameelah is able to walk, with a walker. (14) After a while she walked confidently and even ran steadily without the walker. (15) Now, at the age of twenty-two, she can execute a flying sidekick with the greatest of ease. (16) “Not bad for someone who was told she would never walk again, huh?” Kameelah laughs as she demonstrates her new kick.
