I sent this to our Spanish expert, SraJMcGin.
First of all, you should post the directions. What have you been asked to do? Without knowing that, I'm not sure what to do with this. Also, numbering them is helpful.
1. I assume there is a question, which you are to answer? If so: ¿Quién le recomendó ese plato? (Because "le" is not clarified, it could mean to him, to her, even to you (usted). The answer must use su tío (note accent marks, please!) Se lo recomendó su tío OR Su tío se lo recomendó.

NOTE: without the accent mark, it will NOT be identified as the Preterit = Past Tense.

Why did you come up with the 2nd? You must have thought then that "le" meant "a usted" and "su tío" became "mi tío." In th at case you only need the accent marks on tío & recomendó = Mi tío me lo recomendó OR Me lo recomendó mi tío.

Is that what you were to do?

I'll flag this so I can come back later to answer any questions you might have.
