B. mountainous terrain
C. coastal lands
D. fresh water sources
According to what I have studied is that water is very scarce is most of the region, and because of that people cluster where there is water for drinking and cleaning. As a result, the region's population has clustered for centuries in the places with the most water. These places include the mountains of Iraq and Yemen.
So with that information the answer may be D because fresh water sources attract more people in.
