Police stopped 527 drivers. Of those stopped, 298 were ticketed. Of those 298, exactly 127 were cited for more than one violation. Estimate the probability that a driver who was stopped got a ticket.
Which way is the correct one?
1/527=.0018 or 1/298=.003
Or am I way off?

Way off. Probability = ticketed drivers/total = 298/527 = ?
1/527 = P(a particular driver was stopped)
1/298 = P(a particular driver was ticketed)
1/527 = P(a particular driver was stopped)
1/298 = P(a particular driver was ticketed)
