If an employer hires some who is deaf but is able to lip read the employer needs to do what in terms of the employee's job duties (They must comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act.)

My answer They need to provide reasonable accommodations for the employee. Look at the employee when speaking to them. Speak clearly.

I am not sure about this one what other things might the employer need to do

I'd also suggest putting necessary information in writing (which should be done for all employees).
