On the KWLQ chart, which columns do you write in during your reading?

1 answer

The KWLQ chart consists of four columns:

  1. K (Know): In this column, you write what you already know about the topic before you begin reading. This helps activate your prior knowledge.

  2. W (Want to know): Here, you list what you want to learn or find out as you read. This sets your purpose for reading.

  3. L (Learned): After reading, you fill in this column with what you have learned from the text. This reflects the new knowledge you've gained.

  4. Q (Questions): In this column, you write any questions that arise while you are reading or after you've finished reading. This encourages further inquiry and critical thinking.

During your reading, you primarily focus on the L (Learned) and Q (Questions) columns, as these pertain to the information and inquiries that emerge from the content you are engaging with.
