You're wrong on both. Did Gatsby ever go to college at all? Is his mansion for show or not? Why does he have a mansion with a library and musical instruments (which he cannot play), etc.?
I recommend you read the book instead of guessing at these questions. It's not long, and it's VERY, VERY good!
