The sum of which digits? The digits in the day?
If it's the sum of the day's digits, then we know it must be
18 or 27.
I'm not entirely sure what's being asked so I'm not sure how much help I can give.

Since the only pair of numbers that sum to 9 are 1 + 8 and 2 + 7 making her birtday the 18th or the 27th. Since you said the birthday is not an odd numbder, it must be the 18th.
