Log with base 8

X= (5x+4)
=
Y= 3x-4

It looks like this the problem log 8(5x+4)=3x-4

I’ve tried different ways to solve but giving me different answers

there is no solution to this using elementary functions.
You will need some numerical techniques.
log 8(5x+4) = 3x-4
means:
8^(3x-4) = 5x+4

This is not an easy equation to solve.
I graphed y = 8^(3x-4) and y = 5x+4
using DESMOS, and got x = appr -.8 and x = appr 1.741

You will have to use some type of "technology" to solve it,
if you know Calculus, then Newton's Method is your best bet.

check: if x = -.8
LS = .00000166 , RS = 0 , so that answer is pretty good
if x = 1.741
LS = 12.7198 , RS = 12.705 , looks reasonable as well.
