Lets talk N Hemisphere.

I understand wind direction backs as it slows ie at lower altitudes due to friction with the earths surface.

I would expect the same to happen with wind generated ocean currents. I would expect the current to "back" under the sea surface and the further away from the generating force it gets (deeper) I would expect it to back more.

Apparently according to something I read recently this is not the case and the current actually veers the deeper it gets.

Can someone please help

Thanks

Mike

After posting this question the penny dropped with me but I would still like someone to confirm.

The wind is subject to the pressure gradient whereas the water is not?

Comments please
