Kenny had some money. He bought 8 cups of water and 2 cups of chocolate milk with 4/5 of his money. The cost of a cup of chocolate milk is 6 times as much as a cup of water. How many more cups of water can he buy with his remaining money?

3 answers

cost of cup of water ---- x
cost of cup of cmilk = 6x

cost of ingredients = 8x + 2(6x) = 20x
this is 4/5 of his money, so he has 1/5 of money left
or he has (1/5)(20x) or 4x left
each cup of water costs x
so he can still get 4x/x or 4 cups of water.

That's some weird cost for water!
Or 5
Let, cost of cup of water = x, cost of cup of choc milk = 6x
8 * x + 2 * 6x = 4/5 of money
4/5 of money = 8x + 12x = 20x
Remaining money = 1/5 of money = 20x/4 = 5x
∴ Kenny can buy 5 more cups of water with remaining money.
