is it right?
No.
A wave on a string is transverse for example. The vibration of a guitar string is not up and down the string but perpendicular to it.
A sound wave is longitudinal however, the motion of particles is along the direction of the wave propagation.

A sound wave is longitudinal however, the motion of particles is along the direction of the wave propagation.
By the way, that is why the wave on the guitar string is called "transverse".
