In a radical equation if the negative symbol is in front of the radical should I use -1 to factor out the negative power? And if so do I factor across the = doing BOTH sides? Or just the side the radical is on?

Thanks anyone, I've been out of school for 12 years so it is a bit of a struggle.

Thanks anyway, I found the answer, the -1 is to be multiplied across ALL factors including the numbers on the other side of the =.
