(Note the TWO a's in "grammar.")
Active voice -- the subject of the sentence does the action of the verb.
Passive voice -- the subject of the sentence receives the action of the verb.
Examples:
Jack hit the baseball. (active because Jack did the hitting)
The baseball was hit by Jack. (passive because the baseball didn't do the hitting; it WAS hit.)
Rethink your answers above (some are correct!) and repost them.
I'm having a hard time understanding the difference between active voices and passive voices. Here are some questions that I tried to answer, can someone please correct them for me?
Write P for passive or A for active
1.A tiny kitten wandered into the living room (A)
2.The test is taken by many highschool seniors {A)
3.The dog dug a hole in the yard to bury it's bone. (P)
4.Carol wrote a thank-you note to her grandmother. (A)
5.The black car was polished to a velvety sheen (P)
I know it seems as if I've just made wild guesses but I did try! Thanks!
