If you are looking at a graph of a quadratic equation, how do

you determine where the solutions are?

1 answer

Suppose you have a quadratic equation of the form
ax^2 + bx^2 + c = 0

Let y = ax^2 + bx^2 + c

Make a graph of y vs x.

The solutions to the first equation are the points where the graphed line crosses the x axis (where y = 0). There can be 0, 1 or 2 such points.
