If an objects density is less than that of a liquid, it will float in the liquid. At a temperature of 70F the density of water is approximately 998 kg/m^3. At this temperature, which of the following pieces of wood will float in water?

0.65 m^3 piece of kingwood with a mass of 780 kg
0.48 m^3 piece of snakewood with a mass of 581.76 kg
0.52 m^3 piece of verawood with a mass of 619.84 kg
0.71 m^3 piece of logwood with a mass of 646.1 kg

well, I think 998 is about 1000 kg/m^3 :)

780 kg / .65 m^3 = 1200 kg / m^3 sinks like a rock
now you do the others
Density = mass/volume
Calculate density of each wood and compare to water.
