If a metal bar at a temperature of 20 degree celcius is dropped in boiling water how long will it take for the bar to reach 98 celcius at a rate of 2 degrees per second

For simplicity sake, let's assume that the temperature increase is a linear function, (which it isn't), we would solve
2t + 20 = 98
2t = 78
t = 39 seconds
2t + 20 = 98
