I haven't found anywhere that he invited anyone to the first production. I only found that he was very nervous, afraid that no one would clap when the audience was asked to clap if it believed in fairies. Everyone clapped so loudly that the person playing Peter Pan cried!

I was wondering if in the first production of Peter Pan (the play in 1904), if James Barrie (the author) REALLY invited handfuls of orphans to come to the play.
This was in the movie, which is based on the true story, but I can't figure out if this specific fact is true.
:S help i need to know... thx
