I want to tile a room that is 10 ft x 15 ft. The tiles I want to use are 18 in x 18 in. How many tiles will I need to buy?
The area I want to tile is 150 sq ft.
The tiles are 18 in by 18 in.
If I convert 150 sq ft to inches, that is 150 sq ft x 12 in/ft x 12 in/ft = 21,600 inches
From here I am stuck --- maybe I multiply 18 by 18 to get 324 sq in, and then divide 21,600 by 324 to get 66.6 tiles, rounding up to 67 tiles?

That;s one way. Another way is to figure the area in terms of tiles.
10ft = 120in = 120/18 = 6,67 tiles
15ft = 180/18 = 10 tiles
The area is 6.67 * 10 = 66.7 tiles^2
10ft = 120in = 120/18 = 6,67 tiles
15ft = 180/18 = 10 tiles
The area is 6.67 * 10 = 66.7 tiles^2
