I need help with this problem:

9i - (5i + 4i)^2

The correct answer is supposed to be 9 + 49i, but my answer is no where near that...

If the problem is as you typed, that answer is not correct.

Sorry! The actual problem is:

9i - (5i + 4i^2)^2

4i^2=-4

(5i-4)^2 =-9 - 40 i
9i-(5i + 4i^2)^2 =9+49i
