Thanks for using the Jiskha Homework Help Forum and to Writeacher who sent this to me! I missed it!
Because the verb "s'écrivent" says "they write to themselves" you have lots of options. Here are some:
Il et elle OR Ils OR 2 girls = Elles. The best choice? Either "Il et elle" OR "Ils et elles"
The 2nd one would be "tu" as inversion of a question, rather than the Stress Pronoun "toi." The reason the first word is "Toi" is for emphasis, that the statement is being addressed to "you."
The Stress Pronouns, or "Disjunctive Pronouns" are: moi, toi, lui, elle, nous, vous, eux, elles. They are used a) After a prepositiion, b) When the pronoun has no verb expressed, c) In a compound subject or object, d) For emphasis, e) After "ce + être" and f) With "-mêmew/mêmes" to xpress the English -self/-selves.
NOTE: Some French verbs take "à" with a disjunctive pronoun rather than in direct object. Among them are "penser à = to thin of," songer à = to think of and être à = to belong to, and reflexive expressions taking à, such as se fier à = to trust.
