In old terminology, there is one radical in CuSO4. That is the sulfate ion, SO4^2-. With the trend for everything to be named by IUPAC, the term radical has been replaced with "polytomic ion." The term radical now is reserved for use in organic chemistry and so-called free radicals. I don't know what you mean by moving from matter to solid. The process of moving from liquid to solid is called crystallization.
Thankyou!:)
