4x+8y = -24

add the two equations and you have

6y = -36
y = -6

now use that to get x
wouldn't x=0?

-4x-2(-6)=-12
4x+8(-6)=-24

-4x+12=-12 which equals 0
4x-48=-24 which equals 6
