How did the Boston Massacre affect the government and society of the United States?

It was just one in many, many incidents and causes of the Revolution. It certainly angered people and made the defense attorney for the British soldiers look noble but I am not sure it would be considered a major factor in later development of the US.
Now of course you have to tell me who that defense attorney was :)
Was the defense attorney John Adams?
Yes ! Well done.
Thank you for the help (:
Now I suppose you could say the event was a significant factor in the British decision to leave Boston.
You are welcome.
Actually, the Boston Massacre occurred much earlier than the British evacuation from Boston. It was an incident that exacerbated the colonists' resentment of the British rule. Open hostilities didn't arise until five years later, and the British militarily occupied Boston for another year after that.
