Okay. President Washington avoided foreign entanglements knowing that we had no military to get involved in Europe's perpetual wars. You are correct on the War of 1812 for a & b. I don't recall the battle of Ft. Washington or the burning of Philadelphia, could look them up for you, but you should use your search engine to look up the Battle of Ft. Washington to find out for yourself. Look up nullification if you don't know what the word means. Your answer is d., which would make the very existence of a national government superfluous. Religious "awakenings" occurred about every 30 years in the 19th century and always saw an increase in church attendance (especially among women) and social reform movements, and maybe renewed emphasis on overseas missionary work, but more the social improvement issues at home. About colonial America, d. is probably closest to the truth. New Englanders were religious fanatics, middle colonists less so (except that Maryland was set aside as a refuge for Roman Catholics), and southern colonists were much more interested in profit from agriculture (rice mostly, later tobacco and cotton) for export to England. You are correct on the Articles, the first attempt at a national government. All of the above, but the 3/5ths plan actually made it into the constitution. We never returned Florida to the Spanish! Maybe we should have, but we did not.
Thank you so so soooo much!
Actually, if memory serves, we bought Florida from Spain didn't we? And if we gave it back, where would all those retirees have gone to escape cold winters? (grin)
Thanks for this I guess we are taking some what of the same test. :)
