"The hardness of a mineral is found to be between 9 and 10 on the Mohs scale. Can you accurately state that the mineral's hardness is 9.5? Why or why not?

I’m way to late to help the original person but incase anyone else finds this later on the answer is no because 9.5 does not account for the full variation of 9-10 on the hardness scale

Essentially the hardness can be anywhere between 9-10 (to the other reply I forgot to add this)
