Hello I am working on DSM questions and am having problems with selecting the correct response can you help. Here are the questions I am not sure about.

Michael was recently diagnosed by his psychiatrist with bipolar disorder. He reports that his mother was diagnosed in her teenage years with bipolar disorder. He also indicates that his maternal grandfather was never officially diagnosed, but he often referred to himself as “being manic depressive.” Michael states that he does not think he needs counseling, because he feels that medication will eliminate his symptoms. Michael’s position supports which causal viewpoint?
A. Psychological
B. Biological
C. Sociocultural
D. All of the above

I selected B. Biological because it seems to be hereditary and biological disorder that can be controlled by medication.
Which of the following are sociocultural causal factors of abnormal behavior?
A. Low socioeconomic status
B. Exposure to urban violence
C. Discrimination
D. A and C
E. All of the above
At first I selected E. But then had doubts about B. exposure to urban violence.

2 answers

Yes, from what I know, B is the correct answer to the first question. And I would also choose E for the second question. There is evidence that exposure to a lot of violence does affect children in many ways.
