gunpowder is a mixture of potassium nitrate , sulfur and carbon in th proportion (by mass) of 6:1:1 (KNO3;S:C). A typical riflr shell contains 3.2 gunpowder. How many moles of each compnent are there in our sample gunpowder?

You omitted the units of 3.2? Is that 3.2 grams? If so, read on. If not, the following is not correct.
So you have 6 + 1 + 1 total = 8 parts of which 6/8 is KNO3, 1/8 is C and 1/8 is S.
3.2 x (6/8) = 2.4 grams KNO3.
3.2 x (1/8) = 0.4 grams S.
3.2 x (1/8) = 0.4 grams C.

Now convert to moles. moles = grams/molar mass.
How do I convert 2.3grams of carbon to particles
