For an 8th grader

In one Paragraph: write a proposal to the Mayor about a food desert.
A proposal that will help plan the budget.
Include: Levels of government that will need to be involved and why.
And where the money comes from, be specific. DO NOT include specific cost of materials, etc.
Include the long-and-short term plans for the proposal, as well as what infrastructure concerns there are.
Include a description of the necessary resources to fulfill the proposal,
- land labor, capital - and where these resources will come from. You DO NOT need to tell me how much the materials will cost. You can give me an estimated total cost.
How were the geography ( geography the hills and rivers in the city) affect your plan?
Climate of the city: Moderate - warm, summers, cool fall and springs, winters can be extreme. It is not typical to have tornadoes or other severe weather threats here, other than snow/ice in winter.
PLOT TWIST: Anytime there is a public policy (govt action to address a problem), there are (written/unwritten) regulations or laws that go along with it - like the example of street parking ordinances in winter or rinsing your recyclables.
Please add your idea for a policy that goes with your proposed solution to the
community problem.
Standers:
I analyzed a problem and proposed an idea to solve it. I correctly identified the government levels) that would have to be involved.
I also identified how government levels might fund the project. I created long/short term plans and addressed infrastructure issues.
I analyzed a problem and proposed an idea to solve it. I addressed the
geographical/environment al impact of the project proposal and addressed if the geography would be a positive or a challenge for the project.
I used economic terms - resources, land, labor, capital correctly to address the proposal and plan.

Dear Mayor [Name],

I propose a community garden initiative to address the food desert in our city, improving access to fresh fruits and vegetables for residents. To execute this plan effectively, we will need collaboration between local and state governments, who can provide funding and support, as well as federal grants aimed at improving food security. The budget could be supplemented by partnering with local businesses and nonprofit organizations dedicated to community wellness. In the short term, we can establish several gardens on vacant lots using volunteers and local labor, while in the long term, we can formalize these spaces into educational farms that also sell produce through a local cooperative. Infrastructure concerns include ensuring adequate water access and soil health, which may require collaboration with local utility services. The geography of our city, with its hills and rivers, could complicate this initiative; however, these features can also provide an opportunity for effective drainage in garden beds if planned correctly. Seasonal weather patterns, with our moderate climate, can support diverse crops but also necessitate protective measures during extreme winter weather. Additionally, to ensure the success of this initiative, I propose a policy that mandates local grocery stores to contribute a percentage of their profits to support community gardens, fostering a sense of responsibility and partnership within our business community. Together, we can transform our city and ensure that all residents have access to nutritious food.

Sincerely, [Your Name]
