Find the partial derivative for x.

f(x,y)=1/SQRTx^2+y^2

1 answer

treat y as a constant:

f(x,y) = (x^2 + y^2)^.5

dy/dx = .5 (x^2 + y^2)^-.5 * (2x)
= x/sqrt(x^2 + y^2)
