Reflecting on this course in African American history, I found the format to be both engaging and enriching. The blend of lectures, discussions, and multimedia resources provided a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter. The incorporation of primary source materials, such as letters, photographs, and speeches, allowed for a deeper connection to the historical figures and events we studied. I particularly appreciated the emphasis on collaborative learning, which encouraged us to share perspectives and insights, making the exploration of this complex history more dynamic. The use of group projects and discussions also fostered a sense of community among classmates, enabling us to address sensitive topics with care and respect.
In terms of content, the course offered a well-rounded examination of pivotal moments and figures in African American history, from the transatlantic slave trade to the Civil Rights Movement and beyond.
