Area of seat to be painted
= Surface area of cylinder - 4 squares covered by end of legs
= 2π(4^2) + 2π(4)(2) - 4(2^2) = 48π - 16
surface area of legs (assuming he will paint the bottom of the legs):
each leg has 4 surfaces of 2(10) or 20 inches^2
= 4(4)(20) + 4(2)(2)
= 336
total area = 48π-16+336
= 470.72

You should allow them to do their own test! You should not do it for them!
