Ima bit lazy. So do 2 for 1 to save time.
Shower budget Penny is planning a baby shower
for her daughter-in-law. The restaurant charges $950
for up to 25 guests, plus $31.95 for each additional
guest. How many guests can attend if Penny wants the
total cost to be no more than $1,500?
I tried to solve this one just like how oobleck showed for the other problem. I was no where near the right answer. I know that 31.95x is give because we dont know how additional guest was going
. Eun-Kyung works as a tutor and earns $60 per
hour. She has $792 in savings. She is planning an
anniversary party for her parents. She would like to
invite 40 guests. The party will cost her $1,520 for food
and drinks and $150 for the photographer. She will also
have a favor for each of the guests, and each favor will
cost $7.50. How many hours must she tutor to have
enough money for the party?

cost for the party:
1529+150+7.50*40 = c
c-792 = m, the amount she still needs
m/60 = # hours to work to pay for it.
so, you need
950+31.95x <= 1500
31.95x <= 550
x <= 17.2
So she can only invite 17 additional guests...
So, where is your work? How do you know you're wrong?

You made a mistake. It's 1520 and not 1529
okay so the cost of the party is..
C=67100
67100-792 is M=66308
66308/60 is 1105 hours?
but the book says 42 guests
okay so the cost of the party is..

it should be 20 hours but how?
