Hobin's thesis, "Conflict and Convergence: A Study of the Synthesis of Opposites in Jackson Pollock's Art," was directed by Harry A. Cooper, associate curator of Modern Art in the Harvard University Art Museums and lecturer on the history of art and architecture.
